This is not your typical love story, but it is the one of Timothy Goodman and Jessica Walsh. The two something graphic designers living in New York created the blog, 40 Days of Dating. Today marks the last day of the “40 Days of Dating” experiment, a forced courtship blog run by two successful, telegenic graphic designer friends who decided to very publicly try dating each other. Timothy Goodman is the man-child commitment-phobe; Jessica Walsh is the hopeless romantic. Mine: because they’re both insufferable.

But first it was simply a blog. More than , fans checked in daily to read the “he said, she said”-style posts, which were recorded during the project then released to the public months later. Throughout the course of their quasi-courtship, the pair said the process of cataloguing their feelings challenged them to confront how they approached love and life, in general. I started going to yoga and running every day.

Now, instead of dating, I am looking to be in a relationship. Though the two have parted ways romantically — Walsh has since met a new beau on OkCupid. The pair recently signed with Creative Artists Agency. It was a very honest, raw and emotional thing. So we’re not just making any Hollywood movie. Goodman did acknowledge, however, that the pair is “definitely interested” in writing a book that details the aftermath of the experiment, as well as creating a community platform for others to embark on day challenges that could range from parenting to physical fitness.

Fans may also be inspired to attempt to date friends. So would the twosome recommend it, seeing as now they are exes?

But hey, it might happen. Projeto thrill of the blog — which documents their day experiment — is the uncertainty of it all.

I was thrilled when I first got my hands on a copy of the beautifully designed book, 40 Days of Dating. This was another great design to add to my book collection. Timothy Goodman is also an art director and illustrator who runs his own studio in New York. The two of them have very different personalities and different dating styles, and despite having an immediate attraction to each other they never pursued a romantic relationship outside of their friendship.

The book began with an idea that was frowned upon by many friends of the pair. The two decided to start an experiment, based on the idea that it takes 40 days to change a habit, and started to date each other for 40 days. Following rules that they set for each other, they embarked on this dating experience hoping it may be possible for them to change their own bad dating habits, or even find love.

In March of the pair of friends dated, drank, laughed and fought together all over NYC. They recorded their experiences in questionnaires and personal journals which they began posting to a blog. The blog took off and gained a huge following. The book continues where the blog left off, answering the question: What happened after the 40 days?

Overall I was very pleased with my purchase. The book was a light read, there was humour, drama and some romance. I enjoyed the illustrations throughout the whole book and the bright colours really kept my attention.
